We’re closing in on the one year “anniversary” of COVID – and we know that Victorians had it particularly hard last year. Most people have been spending more time at home, driving up the power bills for many households than they ever have. To reduce this burden, millions of dollars have invested to help Victorians cover the costs of their power bills and assist them with the purchase of their solar systems.

Solar panel rebates will maintain their current value of up to $1,850 plus the option of an interest-free loan until 30 June 2021
Hey, Victorians! Listen up!
We have compiled a short cheat-sheet with everything that you need to know about the Government Solar Rebate. We examine the Victoria solar panel rebates, eligibility criteria, how it works, and how you can claim it.
Victorian solar panel rebate explained
The Victorian government provides its households with incentives of up to $1,850 to set up a rooftop solar PV system. Previously set at $2,225, it was later reduced to $1,888 until the end of June and then to $1,850 for FY 20/21. That means under the new rebate scheme, householders who apply after the 1st of July 2020, can receive a rebate of up to $1,850.

Important: The value of the rebate will continue to drop each year – so to get the maximum benefit, investing in a solar system sooner than later is advised.
Need an interest-free loan?
To further reduce costs, the new interest-free loan will still be available for owner-occupiers, and will match the rebate amount up to $1,850 for solar panel (PV) system installation. Note that if your total system cost is less than $3,700, there will be no upfront cost. The loan is required to be repaid over four years, or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.
Owner-occupiers? Here’s how to apply for a solar panel (PV) rebate.
