Project Overview

Holy Trinity Lutheran College in Horsham, Victoria—part of Wimmera Lutheran College—has long been committed to nurturing students in a supportive, future-focused learning environment. With programs that develop critical thinking, initiative, and responsibility, the college continuously seeks innovative ways to better serve its community and reduce its environmental impact.

In line with these values, Holy Trinity partnered with Venergy Solar to install a 71 kW solar energy system on campus. This investment reflects the college’s dedication to sustainability and education in the 21st century, delivering both financial and environmental benefits while setting an example for future generations.

“At Holy Trinity Lutheran College, we strive to lead by example—instilling values of responsibility and stewardship in our students. Transitioning to solar energy is a natural extension of these values. Not only does it align with our vision for sustainability, but it also allows us to redirect savings into enriching our learning programs.”

The Challenge

Like many schools, Holy Trinity Lutheran College faced the growing challenge of managing rising operational costs, particularly electricity. With an expansive campus supporting a full F–12 curriculum and modern technology, energy usage was substantial. The college sought a clean energy solution that would align with their mission of responsibility and future readiness.

The Solution

Venergy Solar designed and delivered a 71 kW commercial solar PV system tailored to the school’s energy consumption profile. The system was installed seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption to the daily operations of the college. It now offsets a significant portion of daytime electricity usage, offering long-term savings and increased energy independence.

The Results

The 71 kW solar system installed at Holy Trinity Lutheran College now generates approximately 71,000 kWh of clean solar energy each year. In its first year of operation, the system has delivered over $31,950 in electricity bill savings. This has significantly reduced the college’s reliance on grid energy, enhancing operational resilience. The project has also reinforced the school’s leadership in environmental sustainability within the education sector. Additionally, the financial savings provide greater flexibility to reinvest in enriching student programs and campus initiatives.
