Project Overview

Grundfos, the world’s largest pump manufacturer, is committed to being climate positive by 2030. At its Regency Park facility in Adelaide, Grundfos Australia consumes significant electricity due to heavy-duty industrial machinery. The company previously installed a 100 kW system in 2016, which no longer met its carbon reduction targets. In 2019, Venergy partnered with Grundfos to integrate a new 350 kW system with the existing setup—boosting total capacity to 450 kW and supporting global sustainability goals.

"Partnering with Venergy allowed us to align local operations with our global sustainability mission. Their team delivered a high-performing solar system tailored to our needs and helped us reduce our carbon footprint significantly."

The Challenge

The Regency Park facility houses energy-intensive manufacturing and pump testing operations that operate throughout the day, leading to significant electricity demand. While a 100 kW solar system was installed in 2016, it proved insufficient in offsetting the site’s high energy usage and failed to meet the growing sustainability targets set by Grundfos’s global emissions reporting framework.

With climate goals becoming more ambitious—including a commitment to be climate positive by 2030—Grundfos needed a larger, more efficient solar solution that could not only reduce operational costs but also integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and provide accurate, real-time performance monitoring.

The Solution

Venergy designed and installed a 350 kW solar system to expand Grundfos’s existing setup, increasing total site capacity to 450 kW. The system included 1,056 Trina Solar panels and 7 SMA STP 50-40 inverters, known for their efficiency and reliability.

Integrated SCADA technology offers real-time monitoring, data analytics, and full system control. The solution supports Grundfos’s full-site energy needs while enhancing sustainability reporting and grid independence.

The Results

The Grundfos Adelaide facility is now generating approximately 574,875 kWh of clean energy annually. This translates to $258,693.75 in first-year electricity savings (ex GST). The system offsets around 551.88 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year—equivalent to planting 9,198 trees annually. This project reinforces Grundfos’s leadership in sustainable manufacturing while accelerating its progress toward climate positivity by 2030.
