Project Overview

Farm Fresh Market is a trusted wholesale supplier of fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, condiments, and flowers, serving hotels, clubs, restaurants, and businesses throughout the Murraylands region. With a proud 28-year history, Farm Fresh Market is a locally owned and operated business committed to supporting its community and delivering quality produce and service.

To reduce operational costs and reinforce its sustainability efforts, Farm Fresh Market partnered with Venergy Solar to install a 39 kW solar PV system—a key step in modernising their energy strategy and lowering their carbon footprint.

“We’re proud to be investing in clean energy. This project helps us stay competitive while doing the right thing for the environment and our community.”

The Challenge

Farm Fresh Market operates many different types of powered machinery. Lighting, cold rooms and display fridges all use substantial amounts of electricity. Absorbing these price rises only works for so long before businesses must come up with ways of slashing costs to balance their budget and remain competitive.

The Solution

Venergy installed a 39kW solar system on the roof of Farm Fresh Market consisting of SunPower solar panels and Fronius inverters in December 2019. The decision to turn this retail store into a solar retail business was a no-brainer for Carlo Demichelle, and the project was very straight forward to design and implement. Farm Fresh Market roof faces almost east & west, catching the bulk of the sun’s rays throughout the year. The shop's daytime operating hours mean that most of the power produced can be used upright there and then. And because their power consumption profile is fairly smooth, there were no extra challenges for modern solar power technology.

The Results

Farm Fresh Market now benefits from approximately 39,000 kWh of clean energy generation annually, resulting in over $17,550 in first-year electricity bill savings. The solar system has significantly reduced the business’s reliance on grid electricity, while also lowering carbon emissions and enhancing its reputation as an environmentally responsible organisation. Additionally, the system has improved the company’s operational resilience and long-term cost control.
