Project Overview

Bankstown Travelodge is a key player in the Australian hospitality sector, known for delivering comfort and quality service to guests. As part of their sustainability initiative and desire to lower operational costs, Travelodge partnered with Venergy Australia to implement a high-performance 550 kW solar system at their NSW location. The project showcases how clean energy can provide immediate and long-term financial and environmental benefits to large-scale accommodation facilities.

"We were looking for a reliable partner to help us take the next step in sustainability, and Venergy delivered on every front — from design to execution."

The Challenge

The hospitality industry operates energy-intensive facilities year-round. Rising energy costs, coupled with growing expectations for sustainable operations, posed a financial and environmental challenge. Travelodge needed a solution that would reduce energy expenses, lower emissions, and improve energy independence — without affecting guest experiences or business continuity.

The Solution

Venergy designed and installed a 550 kW solar PV system tailored to the hotel’s energy profile. The system includes high-efficiency panels and commercial-grade inverters engineered to maximise generation across varying demand cycles. Installation was completed with minimal disruption to hotel operations and incorporated remote monitoring for performance optimisation.

The Results

The solar system at Bankstown Travelodge is estimated to generate 803,000 kWh of clean energy annually, delivering significant environmental and financial benefits. The system provides over $361,000 in annual electricity savings, offering dramatic cost reductions for the facility. It also supports a major reduction in carbon emissions, enhancing the property's environmental performance. With improved cost control and operational resilience, the project helps safeguard against rising energy prices. Moreover, the investment in solar power has strengthened Bankstown Travelodge’s brand identity, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices.
