Project Overview

As part of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield’s (PAE) Covid Relief Support Program, Venergy Solar partnered with the Council to deliver renewable energy systems to local community facilities. One of the flagship projects was a 200 kW solar and battery installation at the Adelaide Olympic Football Club.

This initiative was part of a broader effort to reduce community energy costs, support sustainability, and demonstrate environmental leadership during the post-pandemic recovery phase.

"Partnering with Venergy Australia helped us reduce operating costs and environmental impact at the same time. This is a win for our club and the community."

The Challenge

Community sports clubs often face high operational costs, especially energy bills for lighting, facilities, and HVAC. During the COVID-19 pandemic, these costs became more burdensome due to reduced revenue streams. The club needed a long-term solution that would reduce its energy expenses, support community recovery, and align with environmental goals—without affecting ongoing operations.

The Solution

Venergy designed and installed a 200 kW solar power system integrated with battery storage. The system was engineered for optimal performance based on the club’s usage patterns and included advanced monitoring capabilities. The installation was completed efficiently and safely, aligned with pandemic safety protocols, and created no disruption to the club’s operations.

The Results

The newly installed 200 kW solar and battery system at Adelaide Olympic Football Club is expected to generate approximately 292,000 kWh of clean energy in its first year of operation. This will result in an estimated $131,400 in annual electricity cost savings, significantly reducing the club’s operating expenses.

The inclusion of battery storage enhances the club’s energy independence, providing reliable backup power and greater resilience during outages or peak demand periods. The system also contributes to lowering the club’s environmental impact by reducing reliance on grid electricity generated from fossil fuels.

Through this initiative, Adelaide Olympic FC has strengthened its commitment to sustainability, demonstrating leadership in environmental responsibility within the community and inspiring similar action from other local organisations.

“This project shows how solar can drive both economic and social value. By working with local councils like PAE, we’re not just installing solar—we’re empowering communities. Adelaide Olympic FC now leads by example in showing how sustainability can support resilience and recovery.”
