Project Overview

Hodge Marine, based in Findon, just west of Adelaide’s CBD, is a proudly family-run marine business offering a complete boating solution—from new and used boats to accessories, trailers, and marine servicing. Known for their commitment to quality and exceptional customer care, Hodge Marine is a trusted name among South Australian boating enthusiasts.

To align with their long-term sustainability goals and reduce operational energy costs, Hodge Marine partnered with Venergy Solar to upgrade their renewable energy infrastructure with a 30 kW solar PV system. This new installation builds upon their early commitment to solar energy, replacing their original 25 kW system installed in 2014.

"We’ve always believed in the power of investing in quality, both in the products we sell and the systems we use to run our business. Venergy delivered a reliable solar solution back in 2014, and when it was time to upgrade to a more powerful system, we trusted them again. The savings and environmental benefits speak for themselves."

The Challenge

With high daytime energy consumption driven by lighting, equipment, and workshop usage, Hodge Marine was looking to further reduce their dependence on grid-supplied electricity and improve the performance of their earlier solar system. Their goal was to maximise energy savings while continuing to uphold their commitment to sustainability.

The Solution

Venergy Solar designed and installed a 30 kW commercial solar system using high-efficiency panels and a robust inverter setup. The upgrade enables Hodge Marine to significantly increase clean energy generation on-site, optimise their return on investment, and reduce their carbon footprint without interrupting daily operations.

The Results

Hodge Marine now benefits from approximately 30,000 kWh of clean energy generated annually, significantly reducing their reliance on grid electricity. This transition to solar power has delivered over $13,500 in first-year electricity bill savings, contributing to greater cost control and long-term financial resilience.

The solar upgrade has also strengthened their environmental credentials, aligning with their commitment to sustainable business practices. By investing in renewable energy, Hodge Marine enhances its reputation as a forward-thinking, community-rooted business, positioning itself as a leader in environmentally responsible marine services.
