Project Overview

Venergy Solar partnered with CHEP, a global leader in sustainable logistics, to deliver a tailored 252 kW rooftop solar installation at their advanced service centre in Direk, South Australia. This system features over 500 high-performance Trina Solar panels paired with Fronius Tauro 100kW inverters, designed to meet the facility's high operational demand and integrate seamlessly with other sustainability features such as LED motion lighting, rainwater harvesting, and smart facility management.

A live Solarweb display installed at the building’s entrance provides real-time performance tracking, showcasing CHEP’s active sustainability commitment to staff, stakeholders, and visitors.

“This investment represents our commitment to environmental responsibility and operational efficiency. With this solar system, we’re taking measurable steps to reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and align our operations with CHEP’s global sustainability goals.”

The Challenge

CHEP required a robust, future-proof energy solution that would reduce long-term operating costs and help meet aggressive ESG and net-zero targets. The solar system needed to integrate with existing green initiatives including LED motion lighting, rainwater harvesting, and advanced energy management systems—while offering real-time public visibility of its performance.

The Solution

Venergy Solar engineered and delivered a 252 kW rooftop solar system, tailored to support CHEP’s operational demands and sustainability commitments. The installation comprises over 500 Trina Solar panels paired with commercial-grade Fronius Tauro inverters, optimised for industrial conditions.

Real-time monitoring is delivered through Solarweb, with a dedicated screen installed at the facility’s front entrance. The system was installed without disruption to site operations, thanks to careful coordination with on-site construction and maintenance teams.

The Results

The system is expected to generate over 459 MWh of clean electricity in its first year, delivering estimated savings of $206,685. This output reduces grid dependence and offsets 441 tonnes of CO₂ annually—the environmental equivalent of planting over 7,350 trees per year.

The visible monitoring dashboard enhances stakeholder trust and aligns CHEP’s public image with its global sustainability goals. With an estimated payback period of just 4.4 years, the investment will continue delivering long-term value for both the environment and CHEP’s bottom line.
