Get the Most Out of WA’s New Solar Battery Rebates
If you live in Western Australia, 2025 is the year to invest in a battery.
From 1 July 2025 you can combine the new federal battery rebate with the WA state rebate.
This means you can receive both incentives together and save thousands of dollars.
Federal Rebate
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, also known as SRES, gives you an upfront discount on the cost of solar panels through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). The number of certificates you receive depends on the size of your system and where you live.
From 1 July 2025, the Cheaper Home Batteries Program will provide around 30% off the cost of a battery.
WA State Rebate
Synergy customers can receive up to $5,000.
Horizon Power customers can receive up to $7,500.
Eligible households can also access no-interest loans of up to $10,000, repayable over ten years.
To qualify for the WA state rebate your battery must be connected to an approved Virtual Power Plant program.
Why Act Now
Both federal and state rebates are limited in funding and may reduce over time.
Energy prices continue to rise, and having a battery allows you to store low-cost solar power and use it during peak periods.
