Project Overview

Max Amber Sportsfield, home to the Athelstone Football Club, recently underwent a $10 million redevelopment to become a modern community sports hub. Funded by the City of Campbelltown, the Federal and State Governments, and supported by local stakeholders, the new facility includes inclusive changerooms, a function centre, and multipurpose courts. In line with its sustainability goals, the facility partnered with Venergy Solar to install a 50 kW solar system. This clean energy solution contributes to the club's target of reducing energy consumption by 40%.

"Our goal was to build a future-proof facility for the entire community. The solar installation plays a vital role in our sustainability vision, lowering our carbon footprint and reducing operational costs."

The Challenge

The redevelopment aimed to drastically reduce ongoing energy usage while accommodating the diverse needs of a growing community sports precinct—including lighting, heating, and air conditioning across multiple sports and events.

The Solution

Venergy designed and delivered a tailored 50 kW solar PV system to meet site-specific consumption. The system was installed with minimal disruption during the redevelopment phase and aligned with the project’s long-term environmental performance criteria.

The Results

Max Amber Sportsfield now benefits from approximately 50,000 kWh of clean energy generated annually, resulting in over $22,500 in electricity bill savings each year. The solar installation has significantly reduced the facility’s carbon emissions, contributing to greater operational sustainability and energy independence. This project also plays a key role in supporting the Campbelltown City Council’s broader environmental and climate goals.
