Project Overview

Cedar College, an independent R–12 school located in the northern suburbs of Adelaide, partnered with Venergy Solar to implement a large-scale 200 kW commercial solar energy system. The project was part of the college’s broader initiative to become more energy efficient and reduce its long-term operational costs while aligning with its environmental and educational values.

"This solar installation is not just a cost-saving measure—it’s an investment in our future. We are proud to partner with Venergy in our journey towards sustainability, which also helps us educate our students about the importance of renewable energy."

The Challenge

As energy costs continued to rise, Cedar College faced increasing pressure on its operating budget. With expanding facilities and year-round energy demands, the school sought a solution that would reduce energy expenses, lower its environmental impact, and complement its educational mission—without disrupting daily operations.

The Solution

Venergy designed and installed a 200 kW rooftop solar power system, tailored specifically to Cedar College’s energy usage profile. The system was engineered to maximize output using high-efficiency panels and advanced monitoring systems. Installation was completed quickly and safely during the school term, with zero disruption to learning activities.

The Results

The 200 kW solar system at Cedar College is estimated to generate 292,000 kWh of clean energy annually, significantly reducing the school's reliance on grid electricity. This translates to over $131,400 in yearly electricity bill savings, allowing the school to redirect funds towards educational initiatives. The installation has led to a substantial reduction in the school’s carbon footprint, aligning with Cedar College’s commitment to environmental stewardship. With improved energy independence and enhanced long-term cost control, the college has taken a strategic step toward operational sustainability. Furthermore, the project has strengthened community perception and reinforced Cedar College’s leadership in sustainability education.
